DH-TMU™ Real-Time Mathematical Acceleration IP

Real-Time Control · CORDIC & FOC Hardware Acceleration

DH-TMU™ For motor-control and energy-management MCUs and SoCs, DH-TMU provides hardware acceleration for CORDIC mathematics and FOC control, including trigonometric functions, arctangent, square root, coordinate transforms and PI calculations. Dedicated hardware offloads control-loop computation to preserve CPU resources for real-time tasks. The IP has been delivered commercially in volume-production industrial and automotive chips.

Within the same MCU or SoC, the CPU manages real-time control. DH-TMU receives computation requests and returns results from CORDIC and FOC acceleration. Applications include motor control and energy management.

Core Capabilities

Real-Time Control

Dedicated hardware handles key mathematical operations in control loops, reducing main-core workload and preserving processing resources for real-time tasks while improving computational efficiency and responsiveness.

CORDIC Mathematical Acceleration

Hardware acceleration for common operations including Sin, Cos, Atan and Sqrt supports trigonometric, arctangent and square-root calculations for angles, phases and other real-time control tasks.

FOC Control Acceleration

Accelerates Clarke and Park transforms and PI calculations in field-oriented control (FOC), offloading key motor-control-loop computations for efficient motor-control designs.

Applications

Motor Control

Specialized compute for vector control and related real-time algorithms in robotic joints, industrial servos and consumer motors.

Energy Management

Mathematical acceleration for phase calculation, phase locking and control compensation in power supplies, inverters and other energy-management systems.
